Meet the Candidates


Tom Hritz, PhD, RD, LDN

Tom has been the Clinical Nutrition Manager (CNM) at UPMC Mercy for 12 years, and he recently took on the role of CNM at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC as well. In his new role at Magee, he has been an active nutrition consultant for media outlets such as Reader’s Digest, Women’s Health, and the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. At the University of Pittsburgh, he earned a BS in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, an MS in Wellness and Human Performance, and a PhD in Exercise Physiology with a focus on Health, Activity and Chronic Disease. Tom has an interest in nutrition and exercise strategies to prevent and treat chronic disease, and his dissertation was on the effect of breakfast consumption on the acute response of plasma acylated-ghrelin and glucagon-like peptide 1 concentrations in adult women.  He was the recipient of the Deborah Aaron Memorial Award in 2010. In 2007 Tom served as Secretary of the Annual Meeting and Action Planning Committee and from 2010-2012 he was the Treasurer of the PAND. He is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the CNM dietetics practice group as well as the Pittsburgh Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Samantha Albert, MS, RD, LDN

Samantha received her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science at The Pennsylvania State University in 2014 and her Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at The University of Pittsburgh in 2016.  She is a newly registered dietitian working at her first job with adolescents at the UPMC Center for Eating Disorders located at the Children’s Pine Center in Wexford.  Here, she is the only dietitian working closely with Psych Specialty Counselors, Psychiatrists and Nurses to provide individualized care to patients and their families.  She has been a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 2013, a member of the Pittsburgh Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 2015 and is looking forward to a more involved role.  In her spare time Samantha enjoys cooking, horseback riding, and working part time at Anthropologie.


Kalli Musto, MS, RD, LDN

Kalli is a Registered Dietitian who received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Pittsburgh. She always knew she wanted to help people but loved to cook so found a career as a dietitian to be the best fit. She currently works full-time at Magee-Womens hospital of UPMC in the Comprehensive Weight Loss Program. As a student, Kalli was the student liaison for the University of Pittsburgh and is excited about the opportunity to continuing serving the board in the treasurer position.

Nominating Chair- Elect

Elise Emanuele MS, RD, LDN

Elise earned her bachelor’s degree at Virginia Tech in exercise physiology, then continued on to the University of Pittsburgh to receive a master’s degree in dietetics. Elise graduated in 2016, and is working for Allegheny Health Network at AHN Bariatric and Metabolic Institute working with gastric bypass patients. Elise has Celiac disease and Type 1 diabetes which were the driving factors for her into the field of dietetics. Elise volunteers for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation on the annual Gala Committee, and has been a member of PitAND for the past 3 years. Elise is excited for the opportunity for a leadership role within PitAND this year. In her free time, Elise has excelled as a gluten free baker, and she loves try all the new restaurants the city has to offer.

Krista Schreiber, MS, RD, LDN

Krista completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Pittsburgh.  She graduated from the Coordinated Masters in Dietetics program in 2016 where she completed her clinical rotation as an intern at St. Clair Hospital.  She is currently a full-time Dietitian at Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC where she covers the Medical/Surgical units.  She has been a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics since 2012 and is also a member of PitAND.  She enjoys indoor cycling, any activity outdoors when the weather is nice, and experimenting with new recipes in her free time.
