Important! Licensure News

Post Date: 7/15/16

The deadline for license renewal is quickly approaching – September 30, 2016Thirty CPE credits must be completed prior to submitting your renewal application! Your credits must include 2 CPEs in Child Abuse Training. See below for available courses.

As professionals licensed through the Department of State, we are mandated reporters and must complete Child Abuse Training, regardless of whether or not we work with children. Two credits must be completed prior to license renewal.

A license will not be renewed until the Department of State receives proof, submitted directly and electronically from the provider, of the required continuing education. This process can take up to 10 days. The link below shows approved courses, including type of program (i.e. online versus live), number of credits provided, and type of professional for which the course is best suited. It is suggested you keep copy of Certificate of Completion for your records in case you are audited.

Questions and Answers:

Q: If I renew before September 30, 2016 and have only 25 credits, do I have until September 30th to complete the remaining 5 credits?

A: NO! You MUST have all 30 credits completed before submitting the renewal application!!!!

Q:   If I am renewing my license and take a 3 credit child abuse training course, will 3 credits count towards my required 30 credits for LDN renewal as only 2 credits are required?

A:    Yes, if you elect to take a 3 credit course, 3 credits will count towards your 30 credit LDN renewal requirement.

A:    Yes, CDR has informed us of the following:

If you wish to have the training approved by CDR for your present portfolio cycle, you need to add one of the learning codes below to your portfolio. This can be done on line through your account with CDR.  For future portfolios, one of the below learning codes will need to be listed in order for the training to count toward the 5 year 75 credit requirement.

Q:     Will CDR recognize the Child Abuse Training for my 1 credit ethics requirement?

A:     No, at this time, CDR does not count this training for the ethics requirement.
