  • Meet your legislators and talk with them about issues important to you and our profession. After the presentation, participants will be able to: 
    • State two current public policy issues that affect PA dietitians
    • Identify two “talking points” i.e. methods to introduce issues to PA legislators
    • Describe 2 ways engaging legislators impacts dietetics’ professionals ability to promote nutrition to the public
  • Hear our own expert on the new Nutrition Facts Label – Kira Paris Felker, MBA, RD, Quality Assurance Manager, Nutrition at Giant Eagle and PitAND Treasurer. After the presentation, participants will be able to: 

    • Describe at least 3 ways that research and the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans influenced updates to the Nutrition Facts Panel
    • Describe at least 3 differences between the new Nutrition Facts Panel and the current Nutrition Facts Panel
    • Understand the impact of these changes on both the food industry and consumer education
  • Caroline Passerrello, MS, RDN, PitAND past-president, will present “Talk is Cheap: How to Communicate Strategic Messages for Clients and Media”. After the presentation, participants will be able to:
    • Create a message map to communicate consistently and effectively
    • Describe at least 3 similarities to preparing for and communicating with both clients and the media
    • State at least 3 tips for executing a successful interview
